Office of Veteran Employment Services
The Department of Workforce Development (DWD), is committed to advancing employment opportunities for Wisconsin veterans through targeted business engagement and service and commitment to the veteran community.
American Job Center staff provide Priority of Service to veterans and covered persons to find long term suitable employment and gain access to training and education opportunities. Connect with your local job center.
Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialists (DVOP) provide individualized career services to a targeted population of veterans and eligible persons who have been identified as having significant barriers to employment (SBE), and who are economically or educationally disadvantaged to compete in today’s labor market. DVOPs can assist veterans/eligible persons overcome barriers to employment, coordinate community resources, and gain access to education and job training opportunities that will give you a competitive advantage.
Local Veterans Employment Representative (LVER) conducts outreach to employers to promote the advantages of hiring veterans. LVER staff also plan and participate in job fairs, conduct job clubs, and coordinate with apprenticeship and internship programs, business organizations, and unions in promoting and advocating the benefits of training programs for veterans. Wisconsin Deptartment of Veteran Affairs
The Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) program makes employment assistance available to all Wisconsin veterans in local one-stop job centers. The Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) and Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) are the two primary programs providing employment and training services to eligible veterans.
Wisconsin GI Bill
The Wisconsin GI Bill remits (forgives) full tuition and segregated fees for eligible veterans and their dependents for up to eight semesters or 128 credits, whichever is greater, at any University of Wisconsin System or Wisconsin Technical College System school. The Wisconsin GI Bill is a state program that is entirely separate from the Federal GI Bill®.
